University Spotlight - Western Washington University

This week we are taking a look at Western Washington University for our spotlight series, the current Women's Soccer National Champions in NCAA Division 2!



Western Washington University is found in Bellingham, Washington, one of the most picturesque parts of America, not to be confused with Washington DC. Due to it's location being just 90 miles north of Seattle and 55 miles south of Vancouver, the institution is actually the northernmost University in the USA excluding the state of Alaska!



When competing the school's athletes are known as the Vikings and WWU is a strong sporting school with over 350 Students participating in competitive Sports and the University regularly finishing in the top 50 for All-Sport rankings across the entire division. Most recently it is the school's Women's Soccer team that have made history by winning their second National Championship in 2022!



Initially founded in 1893, the University has been known by it's current name since 1977 and offers a variety of subjects and courses to it's over 16,000 student body. These range from Business and Economics, to Performing Arts, Social Sciences, and Science and Engineering, to name a few. The campus also boasts a prized collection of sculptures which feature across the grounds, both indoors in outside. These feature works by Robert Morris, James Fitzgerald, and Isamu Noguchi.




As a Viking Soccer player you get to compete week in week out at Harrington Field, in front of 100's of Viking supporters!
